Last August, the American Mock Trial Association released a page case that focused on an attempted murder charge. Since then, teams across the nation have studied every piece of the criminal case, including evidence, testimony and case law, to create their arguments for the competition's judges and juries. Each trial is three hours long and scored by two judges who are often law school students, practicing attorneys or sitting judges.
Mock trial competitions take place over two days. Over the course of those two days normally the weekend , four trials are held, during which the teams send in representatives for the prosecution and defense to represent their clients. Seton Hall has already argued this case, with success, against a number of other schools, including Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania and NYU.

Unfortunately, our tournament is currently at capacity, however, if you would like a spot on our waitlist or have any questions, you can reach out to us via email. You can bring 3 teams per school. You can bring one judge per team. The pairings for the round will use the following process.
Randomly paired for the first round. Power matched for the next rounds, 2nd to 4th. Teams will not be allowed to compete against each other. In the instance that a team is power matched against a team from the same school, the AMTA tabulation guidelines will be used to match them to the next closest match from a different school. We will be capping at 30 teams, and reservations for the tournament will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. We began hosting AMTA events in and we look forward to our 23rd year of hosting. The University of Illinois Trial Team is delighted to announce that the 13th annual Illini Invitational will be held virtually from January 23rdth! The Illini Invitational is an excellent opportunity to compete against highly skilled teams, be evaluated by experienced judges, and polish up your case before regionals.
Because the tournament will be held via Zoom, we encourage teams from all over the country to come and participate, we'd love to have you! They "represented the school with professionalism, skill, and dedication," said coach Lisa Freudenheim.
The trademark moot court team, made up of Caitlin Clifford and Erin Connors, flew down to Brooklyn to represent the school in a simulated trademark lawsuit pitting a craft beer maker against an organic wine company with a similar name.
Competition judges praised New England Law students for their zealous and capable advocacy.
